Theodicy – noun – defense of God’s goodness and omnipotence in view of the existence of evil.
Many are asking for a theodicy in the wake of the massacre in South Carolina. Tell me how can a good God allow a pastor and eight congregants be killed by a demon possessed racist.
I nor anyone else can provide a theodicy. But what can be said is:
Revelation 14: 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
We are saddened by what has happened, but those slain are happy in the presence of Jesus.
If there is a theodicy, it is that one day all of our sadness will be over and we will be made glad.
