Don’t Be The Walking Dead

Don’t Be The Walking Dead
The most sobering thought I have as a Christian is that I may have good works outwardly, but inwardly I can be dead. I can be the walking dead. Let’s examine the Scriptures:

Revelation 3:1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

Jesus said that He knew this church’s deeds (works). He also said that He knew they had a name. They had made a names (titles) for themselves in the eyes of the public, but in the sight of God, their works didn’t match their names. Jesus said because of the antithesis (opposite) between their names and their works, many were the walking dead. Let’s read on.

2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.

Jesus said for them to wake up. They were walking, dead, and asleep. In essence, they were spiritual zombies. We can be walking dead sleep and not know it. We can preach the most electrifying messages, sing the most mellifluous (great sounding) songs, and pray the loudest and longest prayer, and still be a spiritual zombie, because our deeds are not pleasing to God.

3 So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

Jesus gave the church in Sardis four instructions, and these for instructions are applicable for the Church today:

1. Remember what you have received. The assignment and charge that you received from God are not to be compromised or aborted.

2. Remember what you have heard. Keep hearing God. Remember the Word that God has spoken to you. Especially the Word relating to holiness and staying free from sin.

3. Keep the Word!!! Don’t compromise.

4. Repent!!! If there are areas in your life that are not pleasing to God, repent now. Repent means to turn from walking one way and walk in another.

Jesus warned: Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

My friend, if this commentary finds you as a spiritual zombie…WAKE UP! Don’t think that there will not be an account for sin. Jesus says He will come and hold you accountable for your misdeeds at a time you don’t expect.

Please repost, you may just save a life.
